Andrew is passionate about community and wants to take action to make improvements to the quality of life for all District 10 residents. He is a 2020 HRM Volunteer Award Recipient.                                             

He is a resident of District 10, and has lived in Fairview and Clayton Park for 25 years.  He currently resides in Fairview with his family.  Andrew is employed with the Halifax Public Libraries and has worked in the Information Technology Department for over 20 years.

Andrew can be spotted on the weekends packaging and delivering food in the community to help combat food insecurity.  He can also be found helping to organize and support the annual Fairview Family Days BBQ and Christmas Tree Lighting events, as well as helping to protect the residents of HRM by sitting on the Mainland North Joint Emergency Management Team, which focuses on community emergency preparedness and operating comfort centres.


Andrew enjoys walking his dogs with his family, hiking in local HRM trails, flying kites, aviation, and running a free-based community flight simulator club, held at the Shearwater Aviation Museum.

Andrew is a community advocate and volunteer.  He also serves on numerous boards and committees.

  • Mainland North Joint Emergency Management (JEM) Team - Vice Chair

    • The JEM team covers the area from the Armdale rotary to Larry Uteck Boulevard, to the back of Bayer's Lake Business Park, and focuses on community emergency preparedness awareness and comfort centres.​

  • Square Roots - Volunteer - Supporting food security in community

  • Flight Sim Nova Scotia - Facilitates a free community-based club at the Shearwater Aviation Museum

  • Atlantic Canada Aviation Museum - project volunteer

In recent years:

  • Mainland Common Dog Park Citizens' Group​ - Founding Member / Advocate - for improvements

  • Fairview Neighbourhood Cooperative (Fairview Yes Initiative) - Board Member

  • NSUPE Local 14 - Vice President

  • Halifax Electric Flyers Association - Event Coordinator, Vice President and President

  • Community Advocate - Supported Birch Cove residents by standing up and speaking at City Hall against the rezoning of 59 Kearney Lake Road. Council agreed with us and voted against the 4 story development.
